World Food Day

Even in divisive times, food has the power to unite us; from experiencing the joys of sharing meals around a table with loved ones, to supporting local farmers and food entrepreneurs This World Food Day, we invite you to join us in growing community health, wealth, and resilience through food. Here are a few ways you can make a difference:

Help families access more locally grown fruits and vegetables.

In our home state of Michigan and across the country, nutrition incentive and produce prescription programs, like our Double Up Food Bucks, are helping make affordable, healthy produce within reach for families and individuals using SNAP.

Spread the word about the impact of nutrition incentive and produce prescription programs.

Give food entrepreneurs a boost by shopping local.

Whether you’re hosting loved ones for a holiday meal or bringing a gift to your office work party, shopping local is a great way to support the food entrepreneurs in your community. And good food makes great gifts.

“I wanted the store to have an impact felt throughout our local community, one that carries real and positive change moving into the future.”
Mike Hainstock, Founder and Owner of Lakeshore Depot in Marquette, Michigan

Stay in touch with us and help support our work with local farm and food entrepreneurs. We'll share a holiday gift guide from our home state's food and farm entrepreneurs next month.
