Grocery Stores

In February 2017, SPUR and a coalition of partners launched Double Up Food Bucks in Santa Clara County, where one in 10 adults say their family is food insecure. As of August 2018, the program is now operating at five grocery stores in San Jose and Gilroy with plans to expand in Santa Clara County as well as into to Alameda County in the coming year, thanks to a 2018 FINI award. This project is made possible by a collaboration between multiple funding and program partners including FIRST 5 Santa Clara County, Second Harvest of Silicon Valley, and the Santa Clara County Public Health Department. Matching contributions bringing local support to more than $450,000.
