Jessica Lofton-Williams

Community Engagement Coordinator
Double Up Food Bucks

As Community Engagement Coordinator, Jessica provides community education about Double Up Food Bucks across Michigan. She explains how the program works to community members and shoppers, helping them to better understand how Double Up can help stretch their SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or food stamps) food dollars to buy more fresh fruits and vegetables. She increases program awareness and provides valuable guidance to new customers navigating the program.

Jessica is an amateur photographer and mom of two young children. Growing up in Ypsilanti, she credits her mom and proximity to the farmers market for her perspective on and passion for food access. Coming from a place with a lot of diversity as well as such stark disparities informed her outlook that health and wealth are inextricably linked in this country. It also sparked her interest in sustainable agriculture and methods like aeroponics. Jessica has previously worked for local nonprofits in Ypsilanti and Virginia. In her free time, she enjoys being outside with her kids and camera.
