Carlos Santacruz

Investment Manager

As Investment Manager, Carlos supports lending and investing work for Fair Food Network in Michigan. He works closely with the impact investing team and Michigan Good Food Fund partners to provide financing to Michigan’s good food businesses.

Carlos has more than 10 years of experience in community organizing, which grounds his passion for building and crafting a more just and equitable world alongside those most impacted. His work has been molded by the various communities he has met, from indigenous communities in Chiapas, to seed savers in the highlands of Thailand, to landless workers in Brazil. Most recently, he was part of a national organizing body that changed how we talk about poverty in the United States – organizing  communities in six states and engaging them on a national platform.

Carlos moved to Detroit in 2016 to start a sustainable housing project rehabbing a hundred-year-old house, experimenting with natural building techniques, and being a garden steward. On his time off he enjoys working with his hands and honing in on his carpentry skills.
