Aaron Neeley

Program Ambassador
Double Up Food Bucks

As a Program Ambassador, Aaron provides community education about Double Up Food Bucks at participating grocery stores and farmers markets in Flint. He explains how the program works to community members and shoppers, helping them to better understand how Double Up can help stretch their SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or food stamps) food dollars to buy more fresh fruits and vegetables. He increases program awareness and provides valuable guidance to new customers navigating the program.

Aaron Neeley is a graduate of Hamady High School and a native of Flint, Michigan. He has worked in public health since the start of the Flint Water Crisis seven years ago. In 2014, he worked as a community liaison advocating for resources to help youth, elderly, and disabled people.

Aaron believes the future of his city is in the hands of the youth and is motivated by helping them find and develop their voice. As a basketball coach with the Flint Affiliation, he has seen firsthand the needs of youth in his hometown and the direct correlation between nutrition, health, and behavior. Aaron hopes to use his work with Double Up Food Bucks to continue building relationships across Flint and connect public and private interests to further support his community and its development.
