Participation Loan

Uproot Market is a co-op grocery store owned by Sprout Farms and community members, with 295 co-op members to date. Scheduled to open in late 2024 or early 2025, pending financing, it will prioritize local and regional products to support farmers and food entrepreneurs. Sprout Farms also runs an incubator kitchen, offering space and technical assistance in wholesale readiness, packaging, marketing, and business development. From 2015 to fall 2023, they operated the Sprout Box multi-farm CSA. Their mission emphasizes food access, sovereignty, and community well-being over profit.

Fair Food Fund provided a loan guaranty, contributing to a capital stack that enabled a local nonprofit to purchase equipment and develop the space necessary to open the grocery store.
