As designer, Ian leads creative development and design strategy in order to advance Fair Food Network’s mission of growing community health and wealth through food. As part of the Communications team, he works closely with program teams to create compelling materials that represent Fair Food Network’s values while ensuring consistency across different platforms. Ian also provides design support for the Nutrition Incentive Hub and the Michigan Good Food Fund, of which Fair Food Network is a core partner.
Ian brings a diverse set of experiences to Fair Food Network. Since 2012, he has worked in various creative disciplines, including user experience design (UX), visual communications, furniture and interior design, video production, and marketing. He has also been heavily involved in supporting arts and cultural non-profits in Grand Rapids as both a creative professional and a board member. In the summer of 2019, Ian left his previous job to work on a small organic farm in Northern Michigan as a farmhand. This experience provided a fresh perspective and a new sense of direction in work and life, ultimately leading him to Fair Food Network in early 2020.
A Michigan native originally from Lansing, Ian graduated with a BFA in Collaborative Design from Kendall College of Art & Design in Grand Rapids. He now calls Ann Arbor home and is excited to be working at the intersection of his passion (food) and profession (design). Ian loves to travel, cook, and spend time outdoors staying active. He is proudly a dual citizen of the U.S. and Norway, though he considers himself a Michigander through and through.
