Double Up Food Bucks
Brian manages Double Up Food Bucks programming at farmers markets and grocery stores in Kansas and Missouri.
This healthy food incentive program increases low-income shoppers’ purchasing power for fruits and vegetables while supporting local growers. The Double Up model was developed by Fair Food Network in 2009 and launched statewide in Michigan the following year. In 2016, 19 states will have active Double Up programs.
Prior to joining Fair Food Network, Brian spent eight years managing two of the most popular farmers markets in St. Louis. Brian is an avid gardener, occasional urban farmer, and also ran the Truck Farm St. Louis mobile educational garden for four years. He is also on the advisory committee for the St. Louis Food Policy Coalition.
