Andrea Plaid

Named one of’s “8 Dynamic Black Women Editors in New Media” in 2013, Andrea’s work on race, gender, sex, and sexuality has appeared at and, among other media outlets. Her commentary has appeared on MSNBC’s Melissa Harris-Perry and in Chicago Tribune and Washington Post. She brings that wealth of experience to Fair Food Network’s Writer position, where she crafts the stories about the policies, procedures, and people who make up the Fair Food Network community.

She is writing the forthcoming stylebook, Penning with the People, for the The Feminist Press/University of Arizona Press’ book series. She lives outside of Detroit (for now!), loves documentaries, rides hard for the Oxford comma and em dashes, and judges soul food restaurants by their offerings of fried okra.
